The Scarlet Door

I was correct, last night, when I proposed moving the plaque with the runic message on it: they are painting our door today, and it is evidently RED. It looks like kind of a blood-color, only muted.

I stood there behind the painter guy for a bit before asking if I should go 'round back. It wasn't so red as all that, so I got to come in.

Nice of management to, you know, TELL us.

But our door's been cream for the past two and a half years. It's probably time for a change. The green railings are evidently going goldenrod yellow.

I think I should like a scarlet door to my home. I'm thinking a red wash over oak would be nice, something that the grain will show through.

This... is not that.

This is a thick heavy layer of RED! on top of cream, which was on top of gods know what before that.

... my mistake. It's kind of a muted maroon red.

Sounds like the color the new management painted my door in NYC. And the frames black. All had previously been cream, which was blah, but cream ... black ... maroon ... dim lighting ... for the remaining years I was there it was like living in a Black Forest cake.

Oh my.

This is, at least, outdoors. Yay Arizona.

Some of the doors seem to be green, though I can't tell for sure in this light.
