PSA (useful tidbit on unwanted babies)

"Some states (California DOES) have a no-fault newborn abandonment law. The
mother can bring the newborn to any hospital, police or fire station and surrender it there without legal penalties." -- the List

Arizona enacted a similar law around the same time, which I was happy about. I don't know why it wasn't a law a hell of a lot sooner or why all states don't have something similar. Of course, there's a lot of things I don't understand about Child Protective Services in general, so... I don't know.

It's the states where they don't have such a no-fault policy where you hear about them being left to die and buried out in the backyard. Then again, you still hear about it, but under different circumstances. I'd much rather the hospital be open for that sort of thing where the babies can get immediate help while all the pertinent agencies are called.

Yep, the hospitals have "baby drops".

When you don't know what they are, it leads to odd images involving babies and book chutes.
