Ah, the wonders of living in MN - I think it is as easy to register to vote here as it is anywhere in the US. I've forgotten exactly what the requirements are for registering on voting day - something like a utility bill in your name to the address you claim to live, and either a photo ID or previously registered voter to verify you're you? Some such - it's really easy.
And if you're a good person and keep your driver's license up to date (i.e., make certain it has your current address), you're automagically registered for a minimum of four years. They drop you from the rolls if you don't vote every four years, and your drivers license renews every five - so there's really only one year in there where you couldn't just walk in and vote.

Arizona drivers' licenses are scary. I do believe that my new one expires in 2045.

It's not common to use them here, except for business mail, generally with pre-printed envelopes.
