Um, actually, it's just a bad amendment to a good law. People should not be allowed to destroy the sexual function of their children because of their personal religious beliefs, which the child may or may not grow to share.

Yep, it's definitely the amendment that is problematic. The law itself, I think most people will agree, seems to be a good one. Sadly, that amendment could keep the law from passing at all. I hate when politicians stupidly amend good laws, causing them to fail.

It's a very good one. And it certainly should be that someone must be of age to consent to their own genital piercing, and no one should be able to give their consent for any sort of cosmetic genital modification for them.

...Heh.

Phrased like that, infant circumcisions (male) would be banned as well, unless there was an actual medical need.
