birthday day update

Missed breakfast. Got my paycheck. Went with gang to pick up Sis's paycheck. Hit bank in Tempe. Hit Subway. Hit Bookman's in Mesa. Got The Artist's Way, Miss Manners' guide to Ettiquite in the New Millenium (or some such), and Three men in a Boat . Sis got me Driven to Distraction. I've been eyeing that one since meeting [livejournal.com profile] pyrogenic.

I was more awake by this time, and ventured a cunning plan: we stop by home and then hit Prisoner of Azkaban.

The traffic on the freeway caused a change of plan: AZ Mills mall immediately. So, here we are. 5:06, awaiting the movie.

Theatre is filling up.

Bounce, bounce.

What do you call three red and grey/brown birds lounging in the sunlight? Basking robins.

Am silly.

Miss Manners' guide to Ettiquite in the New Millenium

i have an Emily Post book.. with stuff all pulled together in the first half of the 20th century.

i like it that way. it amuses me to know what the maids and footmen are supposed to wear in houses of differing sizes (for day and for evening), and what the correct duration for "morning calls" are.

between ten to fifteen minutes for a formal visit in which the parties are aquaintences and not *friends*, or where other arrangements have not been made. (and unless invited to continue at the end of this time period.)

it is also perfectly acceptable to have it announced that you are "out" even if you are at home. it is understood that it means "not home to callers" is an acceptable thing, and not an insult or a real untruth.

let me know if you need to know how many cards one should leave per household, and which memebers one should leave them for.

heh. mine (the most frequently used one, anyways) has said "the Lady Nali is not home to callers today. did you wish to leave a card?" for a couple of months now.

i used to make calling cards for people, and carry them myself. designing and printing them was actually part of the services i offered when i ran a shop for my mum..

however, because of the issue of wasting paper, i only left one per household, instead of the correct number for the acceptable individual members.. and i must say i did leave them for unattatched male aquainances, as well.
