Further "whee, birthday" moments --

Came home to a friends page full of birthday wishes. Whee! I feel so special! I've been feeling special all day.

Despite getting only four hours of sleep, which is usually a precursor to a really shitty day, this has perhaps been the best birthday I've ever had, with only a few moments of stress/crabby/grouch, most of which weren't mine.

The Doom Toll:

• Gas pump broken, people in front slow to leave


• Two (2) miscommunications regarding scheduling and plans (worked out within three minutes peacefully)


• Construction blocking the way to the bank


• Getting slightly lost while looking for other bank


• One (1) miscommunication while waiting for bank, involving being busy, and kid bathroom urgency


• Slight kerfuffle regarding where to eat


• Slight kerfuffle caused by needing to eat lunch really bad


• Traffic on the freeway being a little stiff


• Nasty cramped neck muscles (marxdarx's)


• Getting medium-lost while headed to AZ Mills mall (turning around instead of going to home and then Metro)


• Several amused disagreements about who was paying for what


• Kid in mildly scary movie


• Tired people after long, fun day


• Two (2) migraine headaches, one of them belonging to the driver


• Assorted insane other drivers throughout the day

In short, it was a pretty normal day as far as mild "bleh" moments go. I had to search my memory to come up with them, because the overall mood of the day was excellently festive. Paychecks (large juicy ones), a happy lunch together, a delightful trip to a huge used book store, getting books I've wanted for ages, seeing a movie I've been anticipating, and having it live up to my expectations, spending time with almost all of my here-family, singing happily and nonstop after the movie got out ("Something Wicked This Way Comes", of course) (and of course, now that I'm singing, my cat is singing along with me...), visiting Black Market Minerals and looking at all the shiny things, having a well-behaved kid in tow enjoying himself, and of course all the good wishes from my friends...

Yep. I'm happy.

And I didn't even have any cake. Nor a spanking.

I would get upset if my parents forgot my birthday. (They never forget.) I do get mildly annoyed when my best friend neglects to remember my birthday. (He always does.)

That's great to hear. I am generally too bad at remembering birthdays. I always forget them.

The only reason I give such an appearance of remembering people's is because Semagic is my memory.

The birthdays I can be relied upon to remember are mine, FatherSir's, Mama's, Darkside's, That Idiot Shawn's, swallowtayle's (my little sister), Darkside's dad's (because it's the day before mine), my roommatesister's (the day before or after my sister's), the Little Fayoumis's (September 11th, what a rotten 5th birthday he had), my Pretty's (the last day of July, coincidentally Harry Potter's birthday), my late GrandFatherSir's (exactly 6 months opposite mine), my virtual adopted cousin's (the day after mine), Gamer Aunt's (same as Mama's), and that's it. That's quite a few people, but I've either got a really good motivation to remember (I was in love with That Idiot Shawn for some years) or they're related to me in some fashion.

I can generally be relied on to remember my own birthday, my mother's, my father's, my grandmother's and my fiance's. I'm trying to memorize more, though.

It's just like history.

I remember things by zodiac signs and major holidays, and in relation to known dates.

I think my 6th grade boyfriend's birthday is on May 23rd, because I know it's near the end of May and I think he's a Gemini. But it could be anywhere in the last week of May. But that's pretty close as far as remembering it goes.

Heh, that's a good way of remembering it. I remember my ex's birthday because it is exactly one month after my grandmother's, and one month ahead of my mom's. (grandma's December, 12th, his is January 12th, and mom's is February 12th.)

So it is easier to remember if it is close to something I can remember.
