Google is taking over the world.

(I think I already commented on this, but I think it was also one of the things that never got out of my head.)

So Google's planning to take over the world.

Yet Microsoft's still t3h ev0l, and Google's not. A little invasive of privacy, yes, but not t3h ev0l.

Thoughts?

Maybe Accidentally

I think Google's plan isn't so direct. I think if they suddenly realize one day that they somehow end up owning the world, great but in the meantime they're just trying to figure out how to get really great search capabilities into *everything*.

I think Gmail is a fantastic idea for them. The email part is almost secondary. What they really wanted to do is figure out a way to bring the power of their search to email. If you think about it, in order for that to work, you have to have a *lot* of email.. result? 1GB mailbox. However, that's not enough to make it really unique, so they added several other great ideas: Spam filter (not unique but sort of an exclusionary search), Labels and multi-labels, Google speed and keyboard accelerators.

I'm pretty sure the reason why Orkut hasn't been pushed out is because, even though it's already *way better* than Friendster, it's not really all that Google-like. Either that or Google wants Mr. Orkut to eventually spin that technology off into his own thing.

Google's definitely part of a conspiracy.. a conspiracy to make the world a better place.

Google is in fact trying to take over the world, but remeber, their promise 'no evil'. Lets hold them to it (I think they can do it, but lets not let any sneaky people think they can get away with saying it without doing it).

Also, Amazon is trying to take over the world, but with a goliath like Walmart in the way, we'll see. (Is this a 'lesser of two evils' sort of thing?)

Microsoft tells you they're going to give you something wonderful, then gives you something that barely works. Meanwhile, they demolish or devour anything that looks like competition for any field they might be interested in moving into. Any complaints or evidence of incompetence is met with arrogant, stonewall silence.

Google tells you that they'll do their best, but they'll make mistakes. If you let them know, though, they'll correct them as soon as they can - and they do. They try to beat the field by being the best they can be and providing a better service than anyone else.

Who would you prefer to take over the world?
