The best gift that I received while expecting my daughter was a library of 8 hardbound classics. You really cannot go wrong with books.

Well -- depends on the book.

If someone noticed that there was a hole in my Star Trek novel collection and bought me Windows on a Lost World, I would put the book in my Stack of Books to be Shot Later.

*giggle* True, but even a terrible book is better than most noisy, light flashy, battery guzzling, baby toys.

I've had great success with putting a piece of tape over the speakers on most noisy toys, turning the volume down by at least half...

I love this idea! When my step-sibs and best friend had their kids, the favorite gift I ever gave them were the baby books.

"I'll Love You Forever" was a particularly popular one.
