Work: I do a good job, plus politics, and random work gossip.
They put me on the phones today, which was just as well. I was zonked. I got three interviews in 5.5 hours of working time (we were aiming for one interview every 2.5 hours, so I got above planned production, which makes me happy) on the difficult interview -- not only does someone have to want to do the survey, but they have to fit the correct product use profile and have used the product in the past week. (When they have to fit the correct demographic profile as well as fit the correct product use profile and have recently used the product AND agree to do the survey in the first place, it's nearly impossible to get any surveys.)
I wound up spending lunch break chatting with Figment. He's geek with the same general habits of same as Darkside. I find it still reasonably cute but not half as adorable, and I am certain that some of the things that make me grin when it's Darkside could get to irritate me if it were someone who hadn't all that history/trust with me.
Figment reminds everyone who was planning to vote for Bush: why vote for the lesser of two evils? Maybe this year Cthulu will win the write-in vote. We discussed Republicans for Voldemort, A Vote for Palpatine is a Vote for Order, and the little CNN microphone error at the Democratic National Convention that put this on the air from the harried convention director:
Evidently the supervisor who I've been privately calling "Nice Super" is a fellow minister. I learned this when the guy sitting across from me was teasing him a bit about it. Naughty Monitor (the other new trainee monitor, one of the very few male monitors) was sitting in my area too, and he was having a rousing conversation with some random chick about going out and partying. This, fortunately, was when none of us were getting any numbers. so we were all sitting there bored and they weren't disrupting anyone. I still need to listen to the CD that Naughty Monitor gave me.
I've found that monitoring has honed my phone skills even finer. I'm catching myself now on little things that I'd comment on and maybe give points off for when monitoring other people. The lead monitors say that we got picked to be monitors because we do a very very good job out on the phones. The one lead monitor who did my theoretical three month review (more like four month...) told me that she didn't have to worry when she monitored me, because I always did an excellent job. <azzgrin> I'm probably getting scarily good at this job, and there's always room for improvement.
It really does intimidate me that I'm strongly considering making a career in this company. It looks to be a good solid stable company, and has been around a good long time (though they have changed their name at least three times). I definitely need to make with the "AAAAAAIIIIIGH!" to Darkside over that again, because I didn't screech enough the first time. The thought of me in Corporate America is a very scary one, both to me and to them.

'Go balloons, go balloons! Go balloons! I don't see anything happening. Go balloons! Go balloons! Go balloons! Standby confetti. Keep coming, balloons. More balloons. Bring it- balloons, balloons, balloons! We want balloons, tons of them. Bring them down. Let them all come. No confetti. No confetti yet. No confetti. All right, go balloons, go balloons. We need more balloons. All balloons! All balloons! Keep going! Come on, guys, lets move it. Jesus! We need more balloons. I want all balloons to go, goddammit. Go confetti. Go confetti. More confetti. I want more balloons. What's happening to the balloons? We need more balloons. We need all of them coming down. Go balloons- balloons? What's happening balloons? There's not enough coming down! All balloons, what the hell! There's nothing falling! What the fuck are you guys doing up there? We want more balloons coming down, more balloons. More balloons. More balloons'...Hee, hee, hee. Evidently Figment has been added to my relatively short list of people who I can discuss political pratfalls with (without getting into dangerous political waters).
