This one's been making the rounds.

There are people I can't talk politics anymore with, because they're so conspiracy-theorist that I have to put on the blank face and smile-and-nod and wonder if they and I are living on the same planet, or should be.

But censorship on the ferry is just too fucking far.

I agree. I clicked the link to the book, and can't even see how that would be remotely inapproriate. Some people!

Even if the book had been "inappropriate", how could its confiscation be justified in the name of public safety?

That too. Had it been "The Terrorist Handbook" I could understand it - but otherwise they really don't have a case.

Even then, actual terrorists aren't going to carry around something like that. It's like saying that having a copy of The Anarchist's Cookbook in your bag makes you a terrorist suspect. Terrorists don't carry guidebooks around with them, it's kind of attention-drawing.

Most of the security measures I hear about in the US rely on terrorists being really stupid. Unfortunately, lots of them are really intelligent... or at least smarter than the pondscum searching bags on that ferry.
