This is a book to make sure that the folks selecting or rejecting jurors see, so that you get labelled "weird" and thus not chosen?? Or is it just an engrossing read, able to be read under otherwise distracting circumstances?
An engrossing read and very, very topical -- it starts out in a courtroom, with the protagonist reflecting on the history of legal wizardry as she bends her heart and mind to summoning the spirit of Justice to show up in the courtroom. It's cross between fantasy and the sort of legal thriller where the lawyers are the ones doing the detective work (which, happily, is the way things are arranged in this universe).
Of course, the cover makes it look like a fluffy fantasy romance.
It's by Diane Duane (whose blog feed is outofambit), so that put it on my buy-on-sight list, even though I'd heard grumblings online about the cover art (and, I must admit, that was a little off-putting).
