Telltale signs of class barriers
Grandma (the Little Fayoumis's grandma, no biological relation to me) sends forwarded e-mails without stripping the headers.
So, for that matter, does Guide Dog Aunt.
They? So not geek.
I post forwarded e-mails under a cut tag in my LJ.
Me? So very geek.
pyrogenic? Has a section of website set up where old forwarded stuff is set up all nice and pretty and cleaned-up, organized by general topic/rating.
Him? Geekier than me, and very possibly geekier than thou, depending on thy geek-rating.

1) Grandma et al. do not have LJs
2) They also have a habit of forwarding emails of dubious interest/veracity (fake virus warnings, chain letters, urban legends, etc.)
Both of these seem like reasonable assumptions/extrapolations based on my experience with people at similar overall geekery levels.
I did NOT assume that Grandma uses AOL. If she does, it would of course increase my relative geek rating.
Okay. My figures.
Differences between myself and Grandma:
I do not forward e-mails inappropriately: 15 points.
I have configured email to strip headers automagically: 20 points.
I have done this for two *different* mail apps (work and home): +3 bonus points.
My implementation is incomplete and I sometimes have to strip headers manually: -5 penalty points.
I have an LJ and use it: 5 points.
I know how to use cut tags: 10 points.
I code my HTML by hand: +5 bonus points.
Total: 53 points.
Differences between myself and the Lunatic:
I do not forward email via LJ: 10 points.
I thus do not use cut tags to do so: 5 points.
The Lunatic also has filters set up which allow targeted forwarding: 15 points.
Total: 30 points.
To place myself on the Grandma/Lunatic continuum, then:
53/(53+30) = 0.6386, which rounds to 64%.
Erm.... Uh....
Then I have to penalize myself 1 percentage point for rounding inappropriately in my initial comment. Which brings me back down to **63%**!
