Obedience

A good 70% of the problem is that the Little Fayoumis is used to obeying me immediately. If I say "frog", he jumps. I have him very well-trained.

So we're working on getting him to obey them with the same speed and accuracy. They've been practicing. Whenever he fails to obey now, instead of getting in serious bad trouble, he admits his mistake and asks for them to tell him something so that he can do it.

It'll take time, but there's already serious improvement. Just today.

*claps her hands* Would you care to share boy-training tips? I'm working on training Erinn better, but I can always use advice.

Unfortunately, I've become very bad at this since middle school. These days I have a very hard time not giggling when he's doing something funny, even if I'm mad. Angry I may not show, but amused I can't seem to suppress.

Loss of priveleges (cable, GameBoy, computer, etc) and timeout. Since he has a screaming kicking fit a lot of the time when this is announced, it usually ends up having 5 or 6 swats added to it because I have to catch him and literally drag him into his room, then fight him to get his extremities out of the way so I can close the door.

After about 10 minutes he usually calms down, but he'll work himself back up if he has to stay in after that. We went through that last night because he got extra time for hiding under Grandma's bed when he was told to go to his room for refusing to do his homework. It was originally supposed to be 10 minutes, then 15 for hiding. It ended up being almost 45 by the time he ran down the second time.

Sometimes. It's hard for me to enforce, though; my mother's a TV addict, so it's always on.

Ange does. Dad doesn't involve himself either way, and Mom sometimes overrides me if she gets tired of hearing him yell. Mostly he weasels, though; he gets at the TV when no one is looking.
