Darkside has accumulated a new nickname in usage: Peter Pan. Why? Even through all of the things he's done and experienced that I know of, he's still remarkably sheltered. He retains many of the youthful qualities that Peter Pan does. He's happiest with a new RPG or video game or anime... I saw him enthusiastic today. Our interaction's much like it would be if we were each ten years younger.
Today Darkside and I had a "Mad Scientist Hair" competition. His was frizzy. Mine was frizzy. Instead of taunting each other that their hair was the messiest, we competed. The results were maniacal, and laughable.
Wore my beat-up old sandals today, the ones without much in the way of a sole, and was startled to find that Darkside towered over me by a whole inch. Used to being on exact eye level with him.
Scary thing is, Darkside turns on all the feisty submissive traits in me. My partner has to fight back... Adam brings out the dominant in me. Suppose that would make me a switch, then.
Adam's been a joy to watch, running about the school clean-scrubbed and grinning like a loon, going after girls like there's no tomorrow. I think they have yet to start seriously responding to him, but there's something about him that's more attractive now. He's a handsome guy, six feet tall, redheaded, not sure about freckles, curly hair that has to be plastered down with all kinds of hair gel (I got a brand called Stiff It! for the name) and the glow of a Practitioner about him. Grinning like a lunatic. Blushes FF6699 at the drop of a hat, especially when the girl does it on purpose and then leans over to pick it up.
Darkside was surprised to hear that Adam was behaving this way -- perhaps. What did surprise him was that I knew about it and wasn't doing anything about it. I tried to explain that Adam and I have an arrangement -- we see each other, we hit on other people -- if Adam got a serious girlfriend, or I a serious boyfriend, we'd call it quits, unless the serious partner were cool with it, but for now... we're together. Kind of. Non-exclusively.
Not sure how well Darkside understood all of that...
