In the Rumors department: LJ buyout?

One guy says LJ's getting bought by Six Apart, and the whole blogosphere picks up on the rumor.

I'm waiting for what bradfitz says, myself, but that's definitely an interesting rumor.

Look at rho's journal. It does indeed appear to be true.

Unless there's something locked that I can't see, I saw just speculation based on the same article with the unsubstantiated inside information. It's decent speculation, but same news source.

IF this is true (big 'if', at this point) I'm concerned that they'll eventually eliminate or severely curtail free accounts. (They're probably assuming that most of the current "freeloaders" are sufficiently addicted that they can in fact be coerced into paying for their currently-free 'fix'.)

I'm concerned, if this is not just irresponsible rumormongering, if current permanent users will keep their status & all. And I do like my assorted other free accounts.
