I unexpectedly ran into smmc while grocery shopping. At a distance, I mistook her for trystan_laryssa with an unfamiliar tall, be-hatted entourage, but it turned out that she was someone completely different, someone I may have met in person but it's not entirely clear where, or perhaps (likely) we haven't. We chatted and caught up on stuff in any case.

On the way home, it finally registered that the entourage reminded me of someone I used to be acquainted with back in Fairbanks, one of the Games of Adventure (duct tape sword) guys.

It's a small world, even when you turn out not to know the person you just ran into.

Bleary eyed and just waking up, I've remembered to peek in. I'm glad Josh (tafkaj99) suggested just writing stuff down. I couldn't remember the second part of your user name without getting it from my wallet. :)

Walmart at 3am is one of our old rituals that we don't really get to indulge in anymore, seeing as Josh now lives 975 miles away, but he was fortuitiously visiting for New Years. It was my most wonderful christmas present from him this year. :)

It's damn funny that he reminds you of one of the duct tape warriors. He was involved in his local chapter of HFS (High fantasy society) for awhile, which like to use duct tape and cloth 'weapons'. ;) Not now though. I think the chapter went defunct a handful of years ago, just leaving the one up in Austin. Now, as you know, he occupies his time with LARPing. Gamer geek to the core, and I love him dearly, even if I'm not nearly as into the games as he is. =)

I have a name ya know... Nevermind that I never actually gave my name. tafkaj99 is what I go by in the LJ world, though it's short for The Artist Formerly Known As Josh. Only because there was a lot of Josh's in the sci-fi geek community in Texas, and hey -- I like being the oddball amongst oddballs.

Contrary to what the redhead, smmc, says, I've only been part of the foam sword crowd briefly for like a semester some seven or eight years back. I haven't been part of that crowd since then, and aren't likely to do so anytime in the near future. Not when I have plenty of fun going Fuzzy in the local LARP every couple of weeks.

That's a lot of Joshing.

I know multiple Joshes, so that I've had to come up with names for them. There's pyrogenic who is Josh-the-cute, then there was Josh-the-twit (also known as Josh-the-flirt), Josh-the-pointy from CTY, Josh-the-bad-driver (he was), and more who I've forgotten.
