Virginia miscarriage proposed law

This proposed law would make it mandatory to report all miscarriages within 12 hours. Failure to do so would be a Class 1 Misdemeanor.

I'm incredibly disgusted.

Especially since John Cosgrove obvious doesn't understand that most early miscarriages happen and the carrier doesn't realize she miscarried or even that she was pregnant.

If your period is two-four weeks late and you have a lot of clots and blood and something gelatinous...how do you even KNOW if you had a miscarriage?

Because this happened to me several times during my twenties.

If real life is going to keep imitating "too extreme to happen dystopias", I'm going to run away. To Pluto. What is it with Virginia, anyway? I've never lived there, but on my visits it never seemed to be rabid.

I think this is the case of the Well-Meaning Non-Involved Person Who Hasn't Been Around Miscarriages being an idiot with good faith.

He really needs a clue-by-four.

I don't consider people to be acting in good faith when they try to make abortion criminal, directly or indirectly. I didn't used to be this extreme, but I've had too much exposure to people trying to argue that zygotes are BAAAAAAYYYYYYBIES to have any patience left. Anyone who wants to pass a law about reproduction who can't be arsed to read the sort of easy book about pregnancy that I read in early elementary school is spending so much energy ignoring relevant information that their actions are in bad faith.

(You, of course, are fully allowed to be nicer than I am. I'm just-- yes, embryos look vaguely and creepily human. All mammalian and avian (and reptile, possibly) embryos look vaguely and creepily human, because we're a very neotenous species and we're able to find "looks like a person" in stick figures. And for the last time, preventing implantation is not abortion.)
