Actually, your 'normal' brain is the weird one, this time.

Even people that have never heard of slash spot that one. It's utterly obvious, and Top Gun is probably the gayest mainstream film of all time.

I was an Air Force cadet when it came out. We all saw it. One guy had a VCR in his room that damn near always had that movie running. And I assure you none of us had the slightest thought of that kind of stuff happening or half the crowd would've run screaming from the room.

Yeah, but you'd be viewing it from a totally different perspective than people who weren't in the Air Force.

I've heard of non-slashers who always assumed that was the story they were trying to tell. Frankly, I suspect that at least some of the people involved were actively trying to show it is a story of doomed gay love.
