So, in terms for the computer illiterate but trainable, how does one use those?

One copies the image and saves it to their own photo host (although since those are all on LJ, it may be appropriate to use them from where they are now on LJ and LJ alone), and then goes like <img src="http://www.example.com/images/postit.jpg" width=200 height=200 alt="A little note for you..." > (substituting the actual URL of the image and the actual dimensions of the image; one can right-click and select "properties" to find out the dimensions, though the width, height, and alt are all optional) and post them wherever appropriate.
