the other good way is to tell him you are busy, and could you call him back. then when he gives you his number repeat it back to him wrong until he gives up.
I had a fun dicussion with one once about how I would never join the army because it was against my religion. It really confused the guy when I tried to explain the Wiccan Rede to him.
Not that I really follow that guideline myself at times, nor to I technially consider myself Wiccan, but it was the point of the matter.
"familiar with Wicca" != "Wiccan" -- I think he had either been lectured in the past or had some Wiccan warrior-path servicemates who had come to the conclusion that honorable military service was a way that they could keep innocents from coming to harm.
They used to call my son until he started asking them if they still gave military personnel injections of investigational new drugs without their knowledge or consent. They quit calling.
