Water

There is now an operational water filter on my sink. I can taste the difference. Phoenix water tastes of earth and metal, like the dust in the air and the sun in the sky. Filtered water tastes of sweet nothing.

Probably a good thing you've got that water filter, although I do think you're out of the area where the Motorola groundwater spill of icky chemical things took place, in the late 80s. That was more central Phoenix.

I grew up in central Phoenix, and never drank the tap water. We bought our water from a little store for many, many years, and yes, it did taste of sweet nothing.

I think a standard toy store might have base components, but one would need to modify them slightly to be proper clue bats.
