There's a new IT contractor in the building. The code phrase I use when I mean "I wouldn't mind some of that!" is "decorative". It sounds far more professional.

I was raised in a practical Quaker household. Art for art's sake is permissable. The functional elevated to art is sublime. But something that is supposed to be functional that is too artsy to actually withstand use for its supposed purpose (like commemorative plates that do not work as plates, or should not be used as plates) is an abomination, and not to be tolerated.

Someone I know uses the categories "Weather" (which I call "Scenery"), "Furniture", and "Dinner".
