Looking Like Lain

The network is happy. The network is very happy. Why? Because Adam and I spent some time stringing up cable at least semi-properly, rather than having it drag over the most-travelled parts of the floor. Employed: one A/C system vent controller, two finishing nails, three hair elastics, two long lengths of Cat-5. Result: only people in Votania's room are going to be tripping over cable, because it's gong to be more difficult to avoid her floor when stringing cable.

Adam's still working on putting together the system in my room, and I've been working on laundry.

Proper Cat5 runs make a world of difference. I am rather happy that my house has a nice tall crawl(more like hunch)space that facilitates running Cat5 though it and then popping up and terminating into walljack outlets.

I made Nick do the crawlling and wiring the first time he lived here, and now that he's back I make him take care of all new jacks and the care and feeding of said Cat5 runs

You know, the more you talk about your Temple, the more you remind me of the apartment I used to live in with [livejournal.com profile] amberfox and [livejournal.com profile] ravensinger. It was a very witchy household, with altars in every room (even the kitchen had altar plants in the windowsill), and three computers (sometimes four) networked together with wires strung across the ceilings. I remember Brian getting up on a chair to staple the wires from my computer in the living room, when I moved in, rearranging the networking just a bit. He had been using the staple gun for about five minutes, when he looked at the tool, looked down at me (from standing on a chair), and went, "Ooooh I feel all butch!" (Brian being a very flaming queer, you see. *I* was the butch one in the household.)

Ahh, the good old days...almost makes me *want* to get roommates and rent a house. Hoping to rent a house on our own...but roommates can be way cool at times.
