It's holding the last 30 seconds or so in memory, so then when you see something very fleeting and very cool that you'd like to take a picture of, push the capture button within 30 seconds, and a burst of frames are stored.
Perfect for when the kid or cat does something precious that's never going to be repeated, or for when you're driving along and see a bird in passing, or for sporting events, or ... well, any high-activity situation where the reflexes of the photographer are not fast enough to capture an unexpected event in real-time.
Yep - I knew exactly what you meant. In my case, it's the dogs being especially cute - Mac is camera-phobic, the moment the camera comes out, he's in hiding.
Shadowrun had the capability to add this functionality to either sunglasses or their eye replacements. Their eye replacements would be tempting - without my glasses I'm legally blind, and I'm very bright sensitive to boot. 20/20 vision, flare compensation, and some kind of night vision, along with the camera functionality. For about a thousand dollars an eye. I'd go for it in a flash.
I'd go for the sunglasses. My eyes aren't yet bad enough to want them replaced; glasses are doing just fine for me. Though if the technology were there, and if the replacements would never go bad on me...
