Fidola

In the spirit of last night's searching for old friends, I decided to try and hunt up the current contact info of another old friend, this one from high school. First I tried Google with her name. Didn't pull back much that I didn't already know: some high school sports, I believe, and some band info. Next I tried searching her by instrument: fidola. Came up with the band "This Bike is a Pipe Bomb". They sound interesting. I think I'm going to go and search for some of their stuff when I get back home to a computer with sound.

You goaded me into doing my regular search-for-the-high-school-friend. My best friend my junior/senior year was Cynda Kleeman (she spells it Cindy, though :P no taste for unusualness). We were both on the cross-country team. We were both in the karate club. She was going for the Air Force Academy, you see (and made it, too, was class of 91!) and wanted to stay in shape...she was my willpower that kept ME going.

Last time I saw her was Christmas vacation, 89. She'd been in the AFA for a few months; I was engaged. I told her my wedding date...it was a day she absolutely, positively, could NOT leave the Academy. An important end-of-plebe-year day. *sigh* But that was the last time I ever saw/heard from her. I moved a lot the next year and we lost contact.

I've been trying off and on ever since then to find her again.

And today, thanks to your latest goad, I actually found, not her, but at least some information on her! I found the public record of her marriage to Rich Rosa (she was engaged to him last time I spoke to her) in 1992. And, she had twins in 97!! Whoa! I found an email from someone who knew her to some AFA newsletter, posted on the web. She and Rich were in Grand Forks at that time, but which state, I have no clue.

I tried to send an email to the person listed in the newsletter, but the email bounced. So I'm no closer to actually *contacting* her, but at least I have more information on what she's been doing the last 10 years! :)

Grand Forks AFB is in North Dakota, and if she's still active duty AF I think you can contact the AF Worldwide Locator and they will atleast tell you which base she is at. Then you call the base operator at that base and ask for the base locator and the BL will tell you which Squadron she is at and possibly a duty phone. If they can't give you a duty phone, call the orderly room at her SQ and see if they will tell you. I'll dig up the info on exactly how to do this....though it all depends on if she is still in the AF.
