Called Darkside. Vented about the workplace and the database project. Learned about the fascinating and mighty properties of ctrl+alt+arrow. Engaged in war: I mentioned that when Darkside was in a truly foul mood, I remained very quiet. He commented that if it were that bad, there'd be a lot of ducks about. I replied that I'd be a silly goose to play chicken with him when he was feeling grouchy. War commenced. At a few points, we elicited groans or active screeching from the redhead.

Darkside: "They do say the pun is mightier than the sword."
Lunatic: "Aiiiiiiuuuuugh!"
hcolleen:"If it's making you make those noises, I don't want to hear it!"
Darkside: "But you're taking all the pun out of it!"

hcolleen says that in order to actually live in the same household with Darkside and me if we're that bad, she'd have to have a door that would close that she could control. The two of us are terrible together (and we love every moment of it).

Sounded as if he was taking a bath. He's got a friend's birthday party tonight; I asked him to pass along my greetings. (I don't know which friend this is; I figure that I'd better start doing things like that for great justice. He has few enough friends that the least I can do is maintain cordial relations with them, and that's kinda hard if I don't actually know them and never have met them.)

Told him to have fun & don't stay up too late. Those are evidently mutually exclusive. ;)

He might or might not be coherent tomorrow. We'll see.

In Mac OS X 10.4, there's an option in the 'Display' preferences to rotate the screen. I rotated my mother's by 180º after she'd gone to bed.

I left the preferences open as a hint, but she closed it without looking and then spent hours trying to fix it while I was sleeping...

I'm going to attempt this on a selection of different models of machines at work -- and if it works, leave it that way until someone notices (telling IT what I've done in case anyone complains to them about it...)

Told him I was a Real Supervisor now. He asked if there was a raise to go with that. I cheerfully told him yes. He inquired as to my rate of pay; I told him. He teased me that he was only a very little behind, and pointed out that he's not a supervisor.

... at this point? Leaving is on the horizon, but not until I finish the DB.

Did the math over lunch with hcolleen. Comparatively, if GoDaddy is in BFE, Mesa (like Darkside), I can get three round trips to a tank (safely). A dollar more an hour, plus five hours more regularly a week will make up for fuel expenses at this price of gasoline.

If I get a shift I can carpool to, fuel prices = lower.

Then there are (allegedly) bonuses for sales.
