I suppose that while I don't comment on many entries, I do respond to responses to my comments a lot, and if there aren't that many discussions-in-comments, that could explain it.

It's easy to lose track of where discussions-in-comments are taking place, and how long each individual one is. It all gets lumped into "These are the things I'm discussing with this person" brain-category-thing, for me anyway.
