My feedback to Y! on their current beta mail system:

Bandwidth hog. What is this trying to do, look like a fully-featured mail client using flash? I might even switch over to Thunderbird or something. That's what most of the cool geeks are using. I'd rather have fast functionality than animation and shine. When action in my other browser tabs is lagging due to something going on with my mail, I'm not going to keep it. I may have broadband, but I prefer the lightning load of dial-up friendly pages to something that doesn't do anything special and takes five seconds to load. If I'm already loading five movies to watch, why the hell do I want to wait to get my mail? Shiny but stupid concept.

I clicked "Remind me later" the moment I saw the offer. If you don't like this, I'm pretty sure you haven't tried the new version of Hotmail called Windows Live Mail. Suxx0r!

the fact that content expands to fill available bandwith is one of the things I hate most about the modern web. Google's homepage remains as nearly the sole exception. If livejournal weren't bogged down so much it would behave like lightning, too.

My foray into S2 was predicated on a purpose like that — make a lightweight style that matched OS X’s interface’s top-down lighting. (All the stock styles are lit top-left if they're lit at all.)
