Update on the benefits
Evidently this is the situation. I am a friend who Adam will make out with (in addition to the whole roommate thing) and evidently V is also a friend-to-make-out-with.
One of V's requirements for her relationship with Adam seems to be that in order to do anything beyond just-friends with her, Adam cannot have been intimate with another woman within the past 24 hours.
