Cosmic Stuff
Writers Group went well. There was a random new arrival. I have hope for the ability of the group to band together. Someone proposed the idea of a cabinet. I really like the idea. We've got the leader, a 2IC, and then M seems to be nominated for Sgt. at Arms, or some such thing.
We wound up at the Willow House, and amazingly enough,
saia1 was there!
When we got home, I lit three candles. The large vanilla Happy Household candle, just on general principle, a black "a crazy lot of people need jobs, yo" votive candle, and a green tea light for the safe arrival of our JD.
azwriter asked me if it was Official with Darkside yet. No, no, it is not. Darkside is a wily character and continues to elude things like Official Relationship Status. I do note that perhaps he allowed a little more hand-holding than strictly necessary for the comforting of me, and he has now babbled like that exactly three times: the first time when I told him that Sis had agreed to marry me (then I clarified it was to officiate should I get in the marrying frame of mind), the second time when I let the army brat know that yes, he was my best friend even after it all, and now this time when just chatting about "Read any good books lately?"
Today as I was leaving the workplace, Obso1337 Manager wanted to know if I wanted a cat. It evidently has papers and lo-jack.

A little mag-chip is implanted at the base of the animal's neck, which gets read by something akin to a credit-card reader if/when the cat shows up at a vet and the resulting ID code is compared to a database of stolen/missing animals.
I was going to make some sort of crack about also equipping the cat with "The Club(tm)" as a backup theft deterrent, but then I realized that cats are already equipped with a factory-standard 2nd-generation upgrade: The Claw(tm).
(Say, apropos of nothing except that we're both commenting on this thread, I have no idea who you are IRL, though I expect we've crossed paths at D/FW area SF cons and may well recognize each other by face. Are you going to be at FenCon this September? If so, I'd take it as a personal favor if you looked me up and introduced yourself.)
