Interrogation complete.

Aunt-Fayoumis has arrived safely. Happiness! She is curled up on the guest bed on the floor.

I'm glad I obsessively journal my life, because the sort of little detail that an 18-year-old might think irrelevant (like "exact start date at first job") is turning out to be very necessary. I'm so glad that a whole lot of my job history is soon to become in fact irrelevant. Once I get past 1999 in the "ten years prior", we'll be so happy!

Cat box has been cleaned.

I finished the nice long detailed application for the job. It was online, rather than in person and handwritten, so that's good. They wanted employment history for the past 10 years (standard) and residence history for the past 7 years (which I've only ever encountered when looking for a place to live, not a job). I now have a more detailed file with these things in it, and it'll start becoming one of the things that I print out when headed to an interview. I'm always paranoid that there's something dodgy in my background, even though in reality I know that for all I'm just plain wacky, I'm also very well-behaved.

I have no idea what the plans for tomorrow are!

Wow. This post made me realize it's been almost 10 years (1998) since I started my first "real job" (I'd hesitate to call it grown-up, as I was all of 15, but it did involve a W2 and actual paychecks). :)

You're barely 3 years older than me, so I wouldn't call you old. :p Sheltered...maybe.

I started my first job in 1997 at the age of 17. I worked part-time in a teach supply store as the only male on staff. About the time I decided I'd stay through inventory, then quit because i didn't really fit in they let me go because I didn't fit in. Five months later at 18 I started my first full-time job, working in the rides department at a theme park in the area.

uhhh huhhh

10 years of employment history is standard there??

^&%^$%^#(*#$!$#! They are being picky if they ask for more than 5 here. And they don't ask residence beyond do you have a permanent mailing address in the city.

Weird.

My first growed-up job I got unexpectedly, when the husband of my HS chemistry teacher asked her whether there were any of her students she trusted not to get hurt or to hurt others while handling hydrochloric acid and concentrated bleach. Lots of good clean fun with gallons of recreational chemicals over the summer. :-)

(and no, these weren't the only requirements - essential was "not letting pool customers hurt themselves around said chemicals.")

One such customer objected loudly and persistently to my restraining her. We would up to the manager's office, where I got to demonstrate to her, using a chicken breast, exactly what kind of a "gentle face scrub" swimming up into a cloud of still-not-very-diluted bleach would have gotten her.

Some people just insist upon learning the hard way. If they're lucky, they may survive...maybe. And, maybe, if the rest of us are lucky, they don't

Fournaling is very important... :B It saved me from further suspicion in a credit card fraud investigation once. Which was nice...

Heh, good luck with the job nontheless! (They sound gruelling. o.O)
