OMG wtf bbq.

Trainer has learned a new phrasing: "Great firewall of China". Was v. surprised that he had not heard that one before.

Also! What evil spirit possessed me that I thought that I should answer technical questions from the general public? Technical questions I'm fine with. General public... um.

Don't worry. I'm not going to back down from this. Not without sufficient cause, and days of OMFGBBQ are not sufficient for that. I like Mongolian BBQ better.

It'll make you really cynical and people-hating. I've seen a couple of people go through Tech at work and move on to other things - particularly one girl who's now a senior agent and much happier - partly because they just didn't like being that cynical.

I suppose the thing is to make sure that you leave stuff in the appropriate place as much as possible. Work stuff stays at work - your friends/SO/cat don't need to be snapped at because work was shit; that dickhead of a last caller stays with the last call - there's always the possibility that the next guy will be one of the nice ones, and there's no point souring it from the start.

It can be really difficult sometimes. I recommend Wii Sports Boxing, particular the bag-punching training game. Make sure to wear the wrist strap, though.

On the bright side

You know at least four other people who do your job, so you can always call and bitch at us. :)

General Public you get used to. Eventually you learn to be polite while separating yourself from the utter rage of their stupidity...

...it takes a little time but it's definently possible. :3

I have one while I'm on the phone. I tend to get a bit growly once off the phone though if the caller was particularly... human? is the only word I can think to use...

(It really takes someone special to be a supervisor. I don't know how my sup does it, but somehow...)
