The Traveling Witch
Ever since the age of thirteen or so, I've kept a backpack prepared in case the need should arise that I should flee the house with haste. The years have gotten my packing better, with things I'll for sure need.
Some months ago, some bad things happened and we had to clear out of the house pretty damn quick, just because it felt so awful. Picture the psychic equivalent of sewer gas. This is the only time I've ever had to retreat so fast, but it helps to have something packed, just in case.
I have a backpack. It's got various things in it, including basic hygiene supplies (I need to add shampoo and soap, or maybe just soap), a change of clothes, a blanket, a towel, first aid stuff, not very perishable snacks, paper, the drops for my occasional flare-ups of swimmer's ear (not bad if I get them under control right away, but emergency-room level pain if I don't), incense, matches, and a small kit of things I might need if being called on an unplanned crisis of faith.
Needing to add: Backup athame, metal dish, reference material, water, duct tape, flashlight, mirror. Bus fare. Bus book.

Mine in Alaska had a copy of Spock's World, just so I wouldn't get my mind bored all to hell if stuck somewhere for long lengths of time.
In this one, I think I'll toss the disposable reading material given to me free of charge by Cookieman, the proseletizing Xian bother who maintained a table in the student center back home at the U of AK, Fairbanks.
He distributed Chick tracts, OK? He was a bother. hm. Looks like a post on Cookieman coming up...
