One of the fundamental flaws in the US "security" just made the news.

"Problem with [documents]" causes baby's death. I do not have words for this.

There is no guarantee that the baby would have lived if he'd gotten to the hospital on time, but there was no need for him to have been delayed, and the circumstances of the delay are appalling.

But OMG, what if there was an issue with her documents and we could possibly have admitted an illegal alien to our shores? Or what if she was, GASP, a Terrorist? Maybe the baby was just a diversion?

*shrug* Typical security type bullshit that is hardly limited to Border security types. Incompetence like this results in deaths all the time at all levels of policing, from local to federal.

I mean, come on, last week had the sheriff's deputy who dumped a paraplegic out of his wheelchair and on to the floor while three other deputies watched. If I decided to spend time Googling, I'm sure I could find plenty of other stories of such incompetence and plain lack of respect among the police around the country if not the world.

A tragedy? Yes. Unique to the Border Patrol or DHS? No.
