Officially Sick
Went to urgent care this morning for myself. Some peering in the ears and stethescoping later, with a bonus chest x-ray (my first), and I don't have pneumonia, but I do have a sinus infection. So I have some industrial-strength decongestants, with bonus anti-mucous in there, some antibiotics, and some cough syrup with bonus knockout properties.
So.
I think I'll go to bed now, because I have to be at work this evening for my zomg new position!

And I don't have ins.
Fortunately, however, I had a flu shot in the Fall, and I had a 5 year pneumonia shot a couple of years ago.

Of course, I'm the freak that had pneumonia and bronchitis multiple times every winter from the time she was 6 or 7. I could *not* tell you how many chest x-rays I've had. If I ever get lung cancer, it will be from the number of chest x-rays, not because of my parents or significant others smoking.
These days, I know exactly when I go from bronchitis to pneumonia. Can tell the doctors when I have as small as a dime-sized patch of pneumonia. Can freak them out with this knowledge. It's just experience. If lying down makes me cough, and sitting up relieves it? I have pneumonia. If position has no bearing on the amount of coughing (or is relieved by lying down, which is rare) then I just have bronchitis. So now I don't need diagnostic x-rays anymore - I only get them when I *have* pneumonia (because of course the doctors have to know it before they'll treat it; I haven't had the same doctor for years and years like I did as a kid.)

This time, I knew my lungs were just fine, because I can tell when my lungs are in bad shape from breathing. And while there's some wheezing, it's 99% stuff in my nose and throat. The Mucinex is a miracle drug, because on Wednesday, yeah, it was in my lungs, and it was in my lungs solidly.
