If you're looking to stop by tomorrow, I can give directions (or Google mapping works too.) I do note that you have Google Maps set to "avoid tolls" - so you know, there pretty much aren't any toll roads in this area; the only ones are the bridges, and they're also only toll one-way (generally: if you leave the East Bay in whatever direction, you pay a toll.)
It was late summer, 1972, and my mom was driving a '69 VW campervan, with three kids, no AC, and a failing exhaust system. That was pretty much the route we took on our last leg up to Berkeley. I had never set foot west of Colorado before that, and the whole place looked...foreign.
