I wonder if he's every actually realised that 'the gays' aren't a confronting group of leather-clad hedonists who vote Socialist (well, four or five of them are, but they're statistically negligible) but more often suburbanites named Neville. Rants like his are one of the reasons I applaud Americans brave enough to come out, because they change closed minds one at a time.

One would hope that his professed Christianity would be enough to stop his bigotry; alas, all too often, a fundamentally decent religion is perverted by fundamentalism.

My virtual little brother's parents have mostly stopped fussing at him for BEING QUEER OMG and have started fussing at him for living in sin with someone he barely knows, like they would if he were their daughter who'd moved in with some guy.

It's a distinct improvement.

If I were Christian myself, I'd read a whole lot of people the riot act. As it is, I'll cheer from the sidelines.
