Things we have learned today, a partial list:

Check the oven before preheating to bake frozen pizza.
Smoke billowing out of oven vents, not normal.
Smoke out of opened door, ditto.
That box fan is efficient.
Wipe the oven down before commencing auto-cleaning cycle.
Flame in auto-cleaning cycle is not normal.
The locked oven door prevents stupid moves.
In an oxygen-poor environment, the fire must needs go out.
Once a fire has expended all its fuel, it must needs go out.
The cleaning cycle takes a minimum of 2 hours, by which time one's eaten something else.

One's Palm Pixi's fucking autocorrect will change one's "its"es to "it's"es without so much as a by-your-leave.

Oh, I hadn't noticed that particular auto"correct"... I have been consistently annoyed by my Pre changing "connection" to "connexion".

Left it to bake for a bit; came back to find the kitchen FULL OF SMOKE OMG ENDOFWORLD because the pan was on the small side and a little bit of the dairy goo had bubbled out and landed on the oven floor and so on. So it turned out perfectly fine, but for a minute or two there….

I can see how panic is a normal and sometimes even beneficial reaction to unexpected smoke and/or fire.

Also, I hope the oven is okay.

Oven seems to be perfectly fine -- it's self-cleaning, so it's supposed to hit high temperatures to incinerate little bits and bobs that have got stuck on places. Though apparently the normal course involves less actual active flame.
