Work, etc.

Have determined that the long ramble about Star Wars and specifically Anakin/Vader that I went on last night is the basis for my argumentative research paper. Darkside wants to know whether it's the paper that's argumentative, or me argumentative about the paper. Both, I told him.

Started filling out job application for Zodiac (local magick shop) yesterday evening. Much fun. Felt I could actually, given the nature of the job, put down the truest true reason for my leaving the most recent job: "Soul-sucking telephone research drove me nuts." Will finish filling out today, and hopefully turn in, and maybe interview.

Adam still hasn't heard back from Fry's. Grr. Poor dearie. How long does their bloody paperwork take, anyway?

Fry's? The computer store? Oh, wow, do I miss that place.....(dreaming of california)...

We have Fry's --computer, not grocery-- in Texas, too, ya know.

They have gotten to Texas? Evil person trying to tempt me to move to Texas! :) Having Fry's there (the computer store), just might do it! Now if you only had In-n-Out Burger I would by on my way!

Nope, though we have Jack-in-the-Box and Whataburger. AND we have Half-Price Bookstores and Whole Foods Markets. Dunno how I'll ever do without those two if I move.

I swear, the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex supports more bookstores than any other city I've ever been in. There are 13 Half Price Books within 45 minutes of each other. Actually, that's the distance from the two farthest ones. You could visit them all without driving more than about 20 minutes between each.

There are about 6 Barnes & Nobles within the metroplex, and 3 or 4 Borders. 4 or 5 Whole Foods Markets; I've lost count of those. Maybe even up to 6 now. Plus if you're willing to make the one-hour drive up to Denton, you get Recycled Books, which is 2-story. The size of a full-size grocery store, split in half and stacked on itself, basically.

And that doesn't count all the dozens of normal, hole-in-the-wall used bookstores.

Wow, quite the selection! My husband and I have been thinking about Austin, and I am not that familiar with TX geography.

Austin is 3 hours south of D/FW. It has Half-Price, one or two, and a Whole Foods Market. I'm sure it has a B&N and a Borders; I haven't spent much time there. I've been to a weekend class there, visited a friend several weekends, and gone clubbing on Sixth Street a couple of times. The energy is too New Age, fluff-bunny, frenzied for me to handle for the long term, but lots of people LOVE it, and I can see why. It's a nice town. They have a REALLY nice Celtic shop there...but we have one of those here, too. :)

Austinites will tell you that Dallas traffic is scary, but I've found that traffic in ANY good-sized Texas city is scary. ^_^ There are just more freeways in D/FW, 'cause we're more spread out. Austin's pretty compact.

It'd be too hot AND humid for you, dear. You may live in a hotter place than you grew up in, but it's pretty damn dry, I suspect. It was 90% humidity here this weekend, and 92 degrees. You wouldn't want it.

I hope you get the job.. Zodiac sounds like it'll be a fun place to work. :)

Who knows.. maybe they'll love you there and you'll get a raise soon.
