There is an important difference between "I believe that murder is wrong, because God said/wrote/whatever that it is", and "I believe that murder, which God said/wrote/whatever is wrong, is indeed wrong, although I have (or may have) reasons of my own for holding that belief, in addition to the above". Where the boundary lies, and which side of it any specific individual is on, isn't obvious to an outside observer.
