Cool! How does one go about becoming a blogger at Dream Width, without needing to pay for a start-up account? Is there a secret handshake?

Nah, no secret handshakes required. There's a bunch of ways, luckily!

- If you just want to leave comments and read, not post blog or community entries, just log in via OpenID using your LJ OpenID login which for you is mad_30.livejournal.com

- If you know somebody who blogs at Dreamwidth already (like, say, Azz here or myself) you can ask for an invite code.

- If you don't know anybody who blogs at Dreamwidth you can ask for an invite code on the code swapping community here:
http://dw-codesharing.dreamwidth.org/
You can log in with OpenID as I described above, or just comment anonymously to request a code.

- If you use Twitter, codes are sometimes given away by people there either through @dreamwidth or via individuals - just search for "dreamwidth".
