- Wednesday, 0015: RT @MexicanAtheist: Whomever invented the term conspiracy theory should change it to conspiracy hypothesis. Or muddled bullshit. Whatever.
- Wednesday, 0018: Examining the Google+ Terms of Service, it does not appear that they allow pseudonymous use. My friends call me Azz; my co-workers don't.
- Wednesday, 0020: I do not feel the need to join another social networking site under my legal name. How do you delete a Google+ account?
- Wednesday, 0025: @merfilly I've been Azz for over 10 years now. I *like* Google+ except for this. I don't want to delete it.
- Wednesday, 0028: @amberfoxfire I'm signed up under my real name, which is not the legal name which I basically maintain for tax & work purposes.
- Wednesday, 0030: @merfilly I already invested emotionally, which is why I'm so pissed off and upset.
- Wednesday, 0031: @amberfoxfire It feels like a moral stand. If they don't want me, then fuck 'em.
- Wednesday, 0033: @amberfoxfire Or more precisely, to hell with them, because "fuck 'em" implies a lot more personal contact.
- Wednesday, 0043: @amberfoxfire It's the name I have chosen, and continue to choose, and will continue to choose. It's the name I wouldn't change if I married

- Wednesday, 0157: @ifonlyella Between the information from my friends and the shape of the commentary from the women, I'd already judged.
- Wednesday, 0158: @ifonlyella When someone who admits to coercion about sex is accused of rape, he doesn't get the benefit of my doubt.

I'm honestly >this close< to just deleting my profile and calling it all a bad job.

Yes, the point of using a pseud is so that not everyone can find me. I don't see why that's automatically a bad thing.

(The best summary anyone made of that mess was, paraphrased, "This does not eliminate bad behaviour on the forums. It only ensures that bad behaviour will have more serious consequences." I wholeheartedly agree, and any company that wants to convince me otherwise can
suck itoffer its refutational reasoning on a public, anonymous forum for my consideration, or else accept that the current objections are valid.)no subject

wonder who at Google is even aware of that conversation
I dunno if anyone is (not even really sure how big the company is), but someone ought to forward them the relevant links! Or at least a decent memo with a summary thereof. Many of those narratives were quite impactful, I thought; especially the sheer number of them (and the number, on the side of "where's the problem?", who were Middle Class White Males).

If someone calls me a soggy beermat and a limp dicksmack online as part of an isolated incident, I am probably not going to be motivated to locate their workplace and tell their boss that they've been behaving poorly on the internet, and there's no guarantee that their boss will even care.
If someone contacted
If someone had contacted Management from my job at the Call Center of Doom, she would have laughed at them, because she knows me and knows the quality of my work. If someone had contacted the Queen Bee there, I'd have probably been fired on the spot, because she didn't know me or the quality of my work, was inclined to accuse me of falsifying my hours and said that she had talked to the manager on duty that night when she had not, and me coming to her attention via a stranger from outside the company (no matter how stupid the offense) would mean that I was Causing Trouble.
God only knows what would have happened if someone from the Local Domain Shop had been told that I was being a bitch on the internet, because we weren't supposed to have the sort of online presence that could get linked back to work.
