It is simultaneously cool and weird to me that I spend so much time on the phone with Nora and it does not really leave a searchable log. You better believe that fanpeople together talk about all sorts of things -- but if we want it logged we have to do it by hand.

On the one hand, we would not likely speak half so freely if our words could come back easily when we say something dumb. On the other, there are some hilarious good times y'all miss out on by not being there and us.

On the gripping hand, I'm probably part of one of the last generations that will have to attempt their psychogenesis oldschool. Everyone else will have tape.

Despite not being raised to expect logging, unlogged time makes me feel weird.

I not-infrequently wish for the ability to search things (esp by keyword), be they paper books or conversations. So far I'm not having much luck with either.

The fact that we do not have chatlogs is like the only sad thing about hanging out with my braintwin in person. Mostly because we talk fic a lot and it's really fucking handy to be able to search chatlogs for reference. *g*

(I was pretty well raised expecting chatlogs. I mean, I got online in a major way at 13 -- I was online before that, mind, just not chatting much -- and got on ICQ and developed a social life online, the first I'd ever really had, so I... yeah. Chatlogs are a sort of something I do expect. I still mourn the fact that I've lost old chatlogs to old systems being replaced, actually.)
