Re getpocket: It's rare in 2012 for me to see a product website that is as uninformative and alienating as GetPocket. You like it? What's its value proposition?

Multiplatform quick bookmarking. It used to be a more friendly interface. The best part for me is the browser add-on that lets me save things to it with one or two clicks.

How is it better than delicious or pinboard?

At the time I took it up, Delicious was either in the process of imploding or their browser extension were, and I didn't have a Pinboard account. (I may not have even known it existed.) So it was free, a right-click-menu browser extension existed, a browser bar one-click-add/is-this-already-saved extension existed, and the company was not full of metaphorical bees.

I did not need anything in the way of tagging for unread stuff, and having it on a separate service kept me from mixing it in with the read-and-saved-for-future-reference stuff. I found that I wanted to keep my unread stuff private and my saved-after-reading stuff public.

Oh, right, the no bees feature. Yeah, that one's important.

I'm over on historio.us, which does full caching on bookmarking, so even if what you bookmark falls off the net, you have a handy copy of your own. I should send them money soon.
