Parental type freakouts

So I went on for some length of time on the topic of Close Relationships Otherwise Undefined, Mostly Platonic, With Boys; my fishmumly expectation is that I doubt there would be sexytiems in this particular scenario, but even so, if that should happen, I would expect a condom.

And there are things to be said about trust and jealousy and how to define the physical boundaries and all of the things that make up a Thing, and it's harder when there aren't easy labels, but then the lack of labels makes it less easy to just sort of fall into societal expectations, but then there's the pressure to make it go into a predefined mold...

And the Fishmum often (but not always) wins the Gosh, That Was A Soap Operatic High School competition. I have been told that I need to make a diagram in order for that relationship progression to be even vaguely understandable. (I have been told this many times.)

Also, breaking up by text message is bad; breaking up by answering machine is awkward as fuck (don't be Ted Mosby); I once broke up with a dude by postcard, but to be fair, he deserved it and we weren't really dating anyway.

Do not break up with someone with a pile of things which should be *interpreted* as a break-up. Intepretive break-up = interpretive knee-capping.

Sounds like a conversation that takes quite a bit of care and kindness. But I've never seen a Soap Opera with a fishmum, so maybe I'm missing out on Important Bits of Culture.

My little fish was worried that social situations in her area might become Immensely Soap-Operatically Bad. So I explained my freshman year of high school. I need to make the diagrams so my fishlet can follow. :D
