So yesterday evening I walked into the work kitchen on my way out the door to refill my water bottle. There were three scruffy-looking guys of a certain age hanging around, all of them badged but none of them familiar to me.

"You must show no-one," the scruffiest one said, in a strong Russian accent. "It is not approved."

The rest of the conversation revealed that he was talking about mockups for a login page that hadn't been signed off on by the appropriate management layers yet.

It was the best accidentally nefarious sounding conversation I've ever heard.

Walking home from the opera late one night, many years ago, my mother and I ended up heading down a poorly-lit paved footway between ancient buildings.

"The trouble," said one earnest young man to the other, as they approached us, "is that there aren't enough unicorns left in the world."

AWESOME.

Cue Boris&Natasha joke.

I was discussing with Kat and Nora that it sounded especially nefarious because of years of media exposure where the only acceptable roles for a strong Russian accent was as a bad guy.

(The accent in this incident was because that was the guy's accent, not because he was trying to sound like Boris.)

Damn. I just tried to link to a webcomic I used to read, but that was more than 10 years ago and even the Wayback Machine couldn't help.

It was two people having a conversation about racks and mounting and master/slave and so on, and then one of them asks "are we talking about computers or sex?" and the other one says "I don't know, I forget."
