Now that I can breathe again
I called Darkside. His mom answered the phone. I asked if Darkside was available to speak with. She told me she'd get him.
He answered the phone, more than somewhat grumpy. He'd been "on the john, so could you please hurry up with whatever you have to say?" I told him that I'd e-mailed him the picture for Shrimpy. I told him that he could perhaps let his mom know that when I asked, was he available to speak with, that would exclude asleep, doing homework, in the shower, or otherwise very busy. He told me I could tell her directly, and handed over the phone.
"When I ask if Darkside's available to sleep with --"
"If you'd asked that, I would have said no," she said, laughing. "I don't think he's ever available for that."
Laughing, appalled, I rephrased more carefully.
"What was that all about?" Darkside wanted to know. "I could hear you laughing."
After some prodding, I told him. "I meant, if you were available to speak with, as in not asleep," I told him. "It was a Freudian slip!"
"I think you've studied a little too much Freud."
"You're going to tease the hell out of me for this, aren't you," I moaned.
"No, you're already doing such a good job," he said, in his evil voice.
I'm never going to live this one down.
