If, say, your company's motto is "don't be evil", and you find yourself defending the company as a whole or any of its parts with arguments that boil down to "they're not evil, they're just misunderstood", on a monthly or more frequent basis?

Maybe it's time to sit down and re-evaluate your priorities and your exact definition of evil.

Someone with whom I am acquainted poses a constant social problem when others say something casual and justifiably peeved. He feels the need to defend their honor. This often goes poorly. I'm beyond tired.

Some things actually kind of matter a lot, and getting them wrong with the best intentions still gets them wrong.

Well, it's not on a big page marked "What We Believe!", just referenced from that page. So it's possible they're slowly wiping it out, and just haven't reached that point yet.

I have been tempted to talk to other members of the administrative team of the venue where this has been happening (note the other) and point out the pattern and the problem.
