Surviving another 2nd Thursday
More bits!
Woke up in a timely manner. Got dressed in a timely fashion. Left promptly, with all the stuff I needed (minus breakfast).
I have been listening to podcasts when my commute doesn't line up particularly well with my phonefriends' schedules. This morning was no exception.
I got into the area early enough to hit up the store, and I retrieved those little frosted brownies. Owing to the upcoming holiday, they were frosted in either pink swirls or red rosebuds. (I also located some hugs & kisses for the gluten-free members of the audience.) So there was chocolate for the early fucking morning meeting.
Purple had said the previous night that I had spoiled him for the second handkerchief of FEED, because he looked at the character lineup and saw only one viable candidate for my mourning, so he was somewhat braced for it. Therefore I left DEADLINE on his desk first thing in the morning, complete with the large yellow post-it that he'd been using as a bookmark in FEED.
I took notes without incident, and headed back to my desk to commence typing up. I have a new toy: a foot pedal to control audio playback. I swapped my usual sandals for that pair of folding flats I got that one time. I was just starting to get into that when my phone rang! It was someone from the events team calling to talk about a thing that my team might be throwing in August. (August is Busy Season, so I want to nail down a venue ASAP, and also get a quote so we can jump on upper management for budget.) So that happened.
Eventually it came time for lunch. I tiptoed past Purple's office, found him not in, and headed down for lunch. I saw some familiar faces (the lady dev with a finger in every pie, and Purple's erstwhile teammate, the one with the same name with a different spelling) and joined their table. Purple eventually appeared in the cafeteria, and upon hearing his name being called, joined our table. Hilarity did ensue over lunch.
I zipped off to the room where I thought the conference meeting was going to be. Unfortunately, I hadn't been looking at my email, and the chair had changed the conference room, to a different floor in a different building. So I ran late. This was followed by more transcription and then a team meeting.
I was settling back in to transcription when my email lit up. Stuff ensued, frustratingly. I found a spare brownie for Purple, and then Kat called.
I got a subsequent wind on the transcription, and banged away on it for a while, while I was still feeling fresh. Remarkably, I did not feel as though I had been hammered on with sticks the whole day, just the expected vague woe from taking stairs.
Called Nora on the way home.

I asked Seanan whether he was safe. She said he is the Horatio: he is the one who survives the tragedy to explain it to everyone.
