Tweaking journalstuff!
I'm always cranky about doing online stuff that doesn't have a good way to be archived in my primary internet presence.
ursamajor figured out how to get instagram into DW via IFTTT, and then I said "... huh, let's try that on Tumblr?" (the part I hadn't put together being you can have it send an email (from it) or you can have it send a gmail as you, and one of these you can set up as an allowed posting address and one you can't really).
So now my Tumblr's feeding into my journal, which is pretty cool because it has shiny stuff? But also I wanted to have it auto-tag and auto-cut, and from the way IFTTT is set up it looks like it won't do that. Boo. And I don't want Tumblr to overwhelm my journal, especially as while it may look like I'm active on tumblr really regularly, in reality I have the RSS feeds for a few select people set up on my dw reading page and then I go through my dash and queue any random thing that's awesome or maybe wants a signal boost. I go on terrible tumblr binges. But since 99% of it goes in the queue, and then pops out at a rate of something that I consider not overwhelming per day, that's mostly invisible.
Now that I'm stuffing Tumblr directly and uncut into my journal, the "not overwhelming" threshold's gotta change. I've bumped it down to the minimum, one per day. We'll see how that goes.

I guess the other option is that you could just put in a link to the appropriate Tumblr post rather than the contents, but that's more likely to get scrolled past IMO, because lazy.

I tried putting a cut in at both the Tumblr and IFTTT steps. The Tumblr end did not appreciate and the whole post did not come over. The IFTTT end blanked the recipe contents upon saving.

You're welcome. And so this is somewhere less ephemeral than IRC, I solve the timestamp problem by setting my queue on Tumblr to release when I'm likely to be asleep or at work for the next 8 hours, so I won't collide. The recipe includes the original timestamp to make it easy to edit if needed.
